This policy explains what information the Shayari Today application (the "App") processes, why, and your rights under applicable laws including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Rules, 2021, the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Quebec's Law 25, the Korean Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Japan's APPI, Singapore PDPA, and the Australian Privacy Act.
The App is designed to work fully offline, without a user account, and without tracking identifiers. Specifically:
Under EU/UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) the limited processing described above is necessary to deliver the service you have asked for (showing and reading aloud the bundled shayari). Under India's DPDP Act, no personal data within the meaning of the Act is processed by the App, so consent under § 6 is not engaged. No consent banner is required because we do not set tracking cookies, do not use the data for profiling, and do not share it with advertising partners.
Because the App stores nothing about you on our servers, we have nothing to retain. Local settings stay on your device until you uninstall the App.
The App makes no network calls and runs no backend, so no personal data crosses any border at our side. The Google Play Store delivers the App through Google's global infrastructure under Google's own terms.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to processing, and request portability of your personal data. Since we do not hold any personal data about you in the first place, requests to access or delete will usually be answered with "we have no data linked to you." You always have the unconditional right to delete the App from your device, which removes all locally-stored settings.
You may contact Halcyon Audio at halcyonaudio.app@gmail.com to exercise these rights. Indian users may also contact the Data Protection Board under the DPDP Act, 2023; EU/UK users may contact their local data-protection authority (e.g. ICO in the UK, CNIL in France, the Irish DPC).
The App is suitable for all ages and contains no content directed solely at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (under 16 in some EU member states, under 18 for "children" under the Indian DPDP Act).
All 374 couplets bundled in the App are public-domain works of classical Hindi and Urdu poets (including Mirza Ghalib, Mir Taqi Mir, Allama Iqbal, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Kabir, Rahim, Tulsidas, Amir Khusrau, Daag Dehlvi, Momin, Khwaja Mir Dard, and Wali Dakhani), traditional anonymous couplets, and original CC0 lines written for this App. Background music tracks are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC-BY 4.0) by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com). Attribution is provided in-app on the Settings / About screen.
Because the App makes no network calls, there is no network traffic to secure. Local data is stored in standard Android app-private storage, isolated from other apps by the Android sandbox. The App requests only the minimum permissions needed (foreground-service playback, optional notifications on Android 13+).
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Effective" date and, where required by law, prompt you in-app.
