Terms of Service — K-Pop Today

Operated by Halcyon Audio. Effective 2026-04-26. Version 1.1.

1. Acceptance

By installing or using the K-Pop Today application ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not install or use the App.

2. The service

The App is a free news aggregator that displays headlines, thumbnails and short excerpts of K-pop-related stories from publicly available sources (including allkpop, Soompi, Wikinews, public Reddit feeds). The App uses the Android Text-to-Speech engine to read excerpts aloud with auto-advance, skip, and speed controls. It does not require an account.

3. Third-party content

All headlines, thumbnails, summaries and linked articles are the property of their respective publishers. The App displays them under the fair-use / fair-dealing / news-reporting exceptions recognised in the U.S., EU, UK, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Australia, following the established aggregator model (as used by Google News, Flipboard, Apple News and similar). The App does not reproduce full articles; tapping "Read full article" redirects you to the original publisher.

Wikinews content is available under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 (CC-BY 2.5) licence. Attribution is displayed in-app alongside the story.

If you are a rights holder and believe the App is displaying your content outside what fair use permits, contact halcyonaudio.app@gmail.com and we will remove the source from our aggregation within 7 days.

4. Your use of the App

You agree not to:

5. Availability and changes

The App is provided on an "as-is" basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time. News sources may change. Backend endpoints may be moved or renamed.

6. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. In some jurisdictions (notably under EU consumer-protection law), certain statutory rights cannot be excluded; those rights are unaffected.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Halcyon Audio's total liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for it (which is zero). We are not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or special damages.

8. Distracted driving (Android Automotive / Android Auto)

When used in an Android Automotive OS or Android Auto environment, the App follows the distraction-free UI requirements published by Google: large touch targets, voice-first playback, and no scrolling news lists while driving. You remain responsible for driving safely and complying with all road rules; do not interact with the head unit when doing so would be unsafe or illegal.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your place of residence requires otherwise. If you are an EU consumer, you may rely on mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence. Disputes may be brought in the courts of Seoul, Republic of Korea, without prejudice to any mandatory right you have to bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
